Insecurity: FG seeks cooperation of northern leaders

Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, has advocated cooperation among northern bellwethers to culminate insecurity ravaging the country, especially in the North-East.

The minister verbally expressed that the North was kenned for tolerance and tranquil co-esse, going by the configuration of Nigerians living in the North.

He verbalized in Jos on Monday at the aperture of the Pilot Digital Switchover campaign.

Maku verbally expressed that the North could not afford to lag behind, especially in the revolution sweeping through the broadcasting industry and the benefit of the digitalisation of the broadcast media.

The minister verbally expressed, “The North is kenned for her high moral discipline and good conduct; so it is time for our people to give placidity a chance and embrace oneness.”

While assuring Nigerians of a smooth transition from the analogue to digital broadcasting transmission on January 1, 2015, Maku verbally expressed that Federal Regime was mindful of the global trend and the essentiality to go digital as soon as it is January 1, 2015.

“The Federal Regime is cognizant of the crucial funding needed for the prosperous transition from the analogue mode to the Digital Terrestrial Television platform, which has a deadline for its consummate switchover on January 1, 2015.

“We are committed to providing the indispensable funding required to ascertain a hitch-free transition,” he verbally expressed.

The minister, who expressed the fortification of the Federal Regime to the National Broadcasting Commission, verbalized that the regime has provided the compulsory legislative backing to enable it function efficaciously in the incipient era of digitalisation.

“The Federal Regime is going to fortify the transition project with legislation to enable the NBC function efficaciously,” he verbally expressed.

According to Maku, 40 million analogue television users are expected to switch over to the digital platform by January 1, 2015, integrating that the switchover by television owners would commence with the owners acquiring set-top-boxes that would enable them receive transmission on the digital terrestrial broadcasting platform.

He verbalized that the Federal Regime was working tirelessly to ascertain that the set-top-boxes were sold at an affordable cost.

“The benefits of the transmission included efficient signal processing, higher quality audio and video, lower digital transmitter power that would cover a wider area and support mobile reception of video, Internet and multimedia data,” the minister integrated.
